I am home!

I had a great time on my ADVENTUR, and am very tired. The train was awesome! Though I do wish they had wifi on the trains. I know some of them do, so what's the holdup? I'd pay a fee, even.

But it was still an awesome journey and I got some work done, and I slept a little and had a good dinner.

And now, a quick email check and to bed.

You know, when you type it like that, ADVENTUR looks like a line of IKEA furniture. A sofa, perhaps?

Well, it originated when I went to Ikea to get a lamp, so that's not entirely unintentional :D

I read that as "I wish they had muffins on trains" and I was all ":D ME TOO I'M NOT ALONE IN THIS" but I guess I am.

LOL, Amtrak sells muffins! But only blueberry, alas.

So would I. And really, if Amtrak's in the business of competing with the short-haul regional airlines, it could do worse than to add that little perk.

Oh, God, yes. The train service between Chicago and here -- I teach at the university around the corner from the apple you posted earlier -- could be so much better in so many different ways. (A less fugly downtown train station, for one.) I have mostly taken to driving when I want to travel between the cities, which is sad, because I can't get wifi in my car either, plus there's the whole part where I have to pay extortionate amounts to park my car and take the El. :)

The cross-country (England) train I'm on AT THIS VERY MOMENT has free WIFI. Using it is kind of like watching sand fall through an hourglass. I know I'm wasting my life, but the novelty has yet to wear off.

I'm glad you had fun on your ADVENTUR.

Cross country have now got wifi!? How on earth did I miss that. This is Relevant to my Interests. Must be a slow roll out on the fleet I guess.

NXEC/GNER's wifi is pretty good as long as it's working ok, although it does make Google talk to you in Swedish. This is due to an ingenious method it uses to keep your signal; simultaneously it uses 3G, satellite and... something else. So when one drops out, the others kick in. Thus, constant internet signal. Provided by a company in Sweden.

Wasn't too sure where to post it, but I thought you might like this --
'London mayor Boris Johnson has rescued a woman who was being attacked by an armed group of young girls, chasing them down the road on his bicycle.'
