(no subject)

I was watching this movie in my dreams last night, and at one point they were making some kind of important point about the heartland (that's the big bit in the middle that I sit at the northern tip of). The way they were doing it was by following the telephone lines super-fast with a camera, as if you were running along one, and occasionally the lines would pass through a city and you'd get a snatch of a couple of radio stations.

When they hit Chicago it zoomed past, but there was just a tiny clip of a song. It was very Andrews Sisters, a bit forties-ish; the only line I caught was "Hey there Chicago / It's still twenty-one stops" and there should be another three syllables on that second line, I think, if the music was anything to go by. I thought, that must be a real song, it sounds so vintagey and catchy and it's about Chicago!

Alas, I do not think it is. Still, I'm enjoying playing some Andrews Sisters this morning.

Going to look at apartments today. I'm still not sure how all this is going to work; I don't have the money to move, but Mama Tickey supposedly has some in trust for me if I can delicately weasel it out of her. I'm pretty sure I can convince her once I mention the wasps and mice, but you never know about these things.

I like to think that I am open to change, and I am, but as much as I accept it I really don't cope well with it. I don't want to look at new apartments :(

On the other hand, this new recipe for pumpkin butter is AWESOME.

That pumpkin butter sounds awesome, and also a great excuse to buy a jug of apple cider :D

Are you using that apartment finder agency you talked about before?

Mmmm, that pumpkin butter recipe sounds awesome!

Good luck with the apartment search. It takes me 6 months to actually finish moving in to a place; I don't like being uprooted past that time, either.

Twenty-one stops down the line, perhaps? I mean, I obviously know nothing about the song but those two lines, but it at least makes for a grammatically and semantically sound sentence.

Also, that just sounds like a good (part of) a movie. I regret that it doesn't exist. D:

I haaaaaaate it when I dream cool media. A day later I'll be going about may day, trying to remember that cool television show I saw, until I realize "O WAIT I DREAMT THAT."

I swear there is a song. Might not be the Andrews sisters but there is a song with something like that. My first thought was Pennsylvania 6-5000. But there's like... a train song somewhere. And if you like the Andrews Sisters (Who doesn't?) try the Puppini Sisters. They do a forties-ish version of Heart of Glass and Walk Like an Egyptian. Has to be heard to understand.

I did that with a video game once. I dreamed I was playing a really awesome game and when I woke up I wanted to play sooo bad, but of course, it doesn't exist. :(

Last night I dreamed that you and I shared an apartment Sam, but then I realised that we were never home at the same time and I only knew about you by reading this blog. I started to panic as I suddenly understood that I was in the middle of some crazy Fight Club / Tyler Durden situation, ameliorated only by the fact that I had an awesome blog and wrote some bitchin fiction... until I wondered, "Wait, which of us is the delusional fantasy of the other??? AM I REAL?????"

But then I woke up and it turns out we both exist, so that's cool.

I have to admit part of the reason I made the pumpkin butter was that I had other needs for both pumpkin and apple cider :D

I decided when I woke up it was "twenty-one stops to Georgia" which is almost reasonable, given Chicago is a rail hub!

Well, there's the pop song "Almost Honest" from a while ago that has the line "My reflection in the window as I ride / For Chicago, she is on the other side"

I will check out the Puppini Sisters, thanks for the recc!

LOL. I am so relieved we are both real!
