WELCOME TO THE SAM'S CAFE JOB FAIR, where our motto is "Being unemployed is some bullshit. Give me a job."

We are disorganized, but that's excellent preparation for life!

Basically, the idea is to bring all three thousand of us together in an orgy of job-seeking. We ask for advice and give advice and network without all the really gross slimy bits of networking.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A JOB...leave a comment! Tell us what you're looking for and where, and what your qualifications are, to the degree that you're comfortable.

IF YOUR PLACE OF WORK IS HIRING...leave a comment! Tell us what the job is and where, and what kind of person you're looking for, again, to the degree that you're comfortable.

Feel free to post anonymously if you wish, especially if you're linking to a resume or LinkedIn and don't want your screen name associated with your facetime identity.

Make sure you also read the comments, in case a match is out there waiting for you, or a colleague in your field has also commented and could be a good connection. If you have questions about applying for jobs or interviewing or anything career-related, ask! If you have some awesome advice to give, now's the time to share it!

Looking for a graphic design job

I'm a graphic designer (print and identity, with some experience in packaging and web. Plus marketing and intern wrangling and a bunch of other non-design skills) with a BA in design and ~four years of experience - one year of freelance and approaching three in-house (as the sole creative) at a mid-sized retail company. My three year anniversary with said company is in December and I'd like to celebrate by quitting and leaving Texas. I've got my hopes pinned on Chicago but I'll consider any decent sized city with a good public transit system. One that isn't 100+ degrees three months out of the year.

I'm looking specifically for a full-time in-house job at a company or non-profit, but contract work or something at a design/creative firm would also be amazing.

I can provide a resume, samples, and more information upon request!

I work with some graphic designers who have done freelance work in Chicago -- if you email me on Tuesday and remind me, I'll touch base with them and see what companies they recommend.

Would you be at all interested in some volunteer consulting for Wikipedia? Our technical volunteer community doesn't have nearly enough graphic designers and I'm very interested in changing that. I'd really love your advice on:

I've got a couple of marketing contacts in Chicago that contract with designers and know a lot of the smaller and non-profit companies. I'll get in touch with them on Tuesday.
