I tested out Wordpress's auto-post function this morning by writing a post yesterday and telling it to post today. It works, apparently. It's probably a good thing I checked twitter or I'd have forgotten I did it. The new post is "Forgive Me My Letters" which is a short dissertation on a) why writers are so bad at writing letters and b) how scary book reviewers can seem.

I'd post the letters I wrote, but let's see if they get any results before we go down that particular path...

I think a couple of you spoke to me about soliciting reviews from contacts you have, but I appear to have lost that information, because I am a congenitally disorganised person. I'll probably find it two weeks from now. But yes, here's a general call: if you know someone who does reviews for a zine, magazine, journal, or review website, let me know and I'll get in touch with them. I HAVE A LETTER.

I....actually don't use Google Reader at all :D I find it completely baffling, I don't understand how it works. But I do use Google Plus, so it's probably good reading...

That reminds me: it is LESBIAN STEAMPUNK LAUNCH DAY!!!! Review early and often!

GAH I still have it! I have to read it!

My fault for not reminding you. Stupid "real life."

You could just read my piece and wax upon how brilliant it is, but that would be doing a lot of other authors (and lesbian protagonists!) a disservice.

It's mostly that if I don't have it in print form, it's harder to find a time to read it -- I can't read it on the train, etc. But I will read, I swear!

Sam, Sam, Sam, do I have to come over there and teach you how to use Stanza on your iPhone?

It's too tiny! D: I get a cramp from hunching over to try and read it. Also Chicago is not a good place to have an iPhone out any more than necessary...

Sigh. I spent most of today writing emails to authors asking them to blurb various C&G books. I find this even more nerve-wracking than writing reviewer letters, because at least the reviewers are being paid to read this shit.

If reviewers got paid, I could quit my job...

...Well, at least I could take a day off now and then. I've been reviewing children's books for ten years for a library magazine, and I get to keep the books, but there's no money in it! --Becca

I should rephrase - the people who get the letters and distribute the books to the reviewers are paid! The reviewers themselves usually just get the books, you're all too right.
