(no subject)

Hung out at R's a bit tonight -- he was still running the Roomba when I got there, and while he was delighted with it, one of the Bluesmen was over and was Not Impressed. Pah!

And whoever said he was going to try to feed it stuff was totally right. Not change, thank goodness, but increasingly large pieces of tortilla chip. Yes, R has indeed reverting to subsistence on chips and salsa.

He loves that thing. He's bonded with it. We ran into Bland as we were walking back to my place...

Bland: What are you doing?
Me: Oh, just heading --
R: WALKING THE ROOMBA, OF COURSE.

Bless.

How big of a chip can it eat?

Maybe R should name it.

[identity profile] kessie.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww, bless. :D

Walking the Roomba?

*falls over laughing* Oh, R! May he never change.

Has R named it?

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
He calls it ROOOOOOMba. :D

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. He calls it ROOOOOOMba. :D

[identity profile] gypsyjr.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's like having a puppy, except it cleans up messes instead of making them.

[identity profile] yarukage.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell R I officially love him.
WALKING THE ROOMBA! XDDDDD Rightio, I'm taking ours for a walk tomorrow...

[identity profile] deesarrachi.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have any idea how adorably domestic that sounds?

Also, I wish my room was big enough for me to justify getting a roomba. ;___; It would be like a wee pet! Only I could lock it in a closet when I got bored with it!

[identity profile] lil-1337.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
*pets R* It's a damn good thing that he's cute.

[identity profile] thecolourclear.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have any idea how adorably domestic that sounds?

I know!

Sam, I know you moved out, but you two keep having such ship-worthy moments!

[identity profile] demotu.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
You're going to have to go to court to work out a joint-custody agreement. It's like having a baby after getting divorced.

[identity profile] thesaneminority.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Damnit, Sam, stop making me want a Roomba! I can't justify buying one when I'm not even in the damn country.

[identity profile] coyotegoth.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Walking the Roomba" totally needs to be a euphemism in some Torchwood fic :D

I do hope you continue to keep in touch with R even if you're no longer roommates. Stories like these just can't disappear into the aether. XD

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'd suggest his indulgent and cleanliness-obsessed mother get him one. But then it occurred to me that it'd fill her with jealous rage – someone else is cleaning my son's apartment! And he loves it more than he loves me!

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think we will; we both want to stay in touch and we live close enough that it's easy to do so.

Re:

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, that is EXACTLY the thought process she would have.

Then she'd make the Roomba move out.

[identity profile] ysabet.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Did I or did I not wonder if he'd use a leash? I DID. **DIES DED**

[identity profile] ysabet.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
...and then it could move in with you, and with YOUR roomba, and one day you'd come home and, oh gods, find them mating... **hides eyes**

They'd produce offspring like little mobile dustbusters, you know. Awwwwww.. a litter of roomblets!

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Roombabies :D

[identity profile] ysabet.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Wooooooombas! XD XD XD

[identity profile] iamshadow.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
And whoever said he was going to try to feed it stuff was totally right.

*nods sagely*

One day, you will be as wise in the ways of men as me, young ones.

Although the fact that he was feeding it actual people food suggests a much deeper bond than I expected, considering the scant provisions R must be surviving on in your absence. I mean, change you can get back, but chips wouldn't be edible, even for R, after they've been Roombahed.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Has anyone ever tried running two roombas at the same time? Do they get territorial? Would they hunt each other down the way they anecdotally do with cats? Or would they find each other irresistible? I think this is a question worthy of a full-fledged scientific review.

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Just as soon as the grant money comes through for a second roomba, I'll let you know :D

[identity profile] frenchroast.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, that would be brilliant.

[identity profile] cat63.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
R: WALKING THE ROOMBA, OF COURSE.

::splorfle!:: Oh, I do hope R never changes! :-)

Speaking of which, if "R" stands for "Roommate" and he's now your Ex-Roomate, does that mean he's become "ER" ? :-)

[identity profile] surfergirl17.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
i really do adore him far more than I ought to.

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! It would be apt, on occasion...

Have I mentioned how much I like your icon? :)

[identity profile] cat63.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Have I mentioned how much I like your icon? :)

I believe you may have done :-)

If you want it, feel free - it was made by jkpolk, who would doubtless appreciate a credit :-)

[identity profile] midgetgems.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what I want more, an R or a Roomba.

For some reason the last time you posted about R I had a really random thought. Do you ever have to think about his name before you say it in case you actually call him R? Lol, I'd get so confused. Same with Bulletproof temp and peeps.

I have a very random thought process...

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally do. I almost called his roommate "bland" the other day. And once in a while I have to stop and really think about what my grandmother's name is before I call her Mama Tickey :D

[identity profile] midgetgems.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Calling the roommate 'bland' would be quite embarrassing... My fiction writing course starts in two weeks *cries in a croner* I'm scared! *flails*

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It'll be fine! :)

[identity profile] thekittywolf.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
well, at least now you know what to get him for christmas. :) Get the other blues guys to chip in.

And then they, and Sam, and R (and possibly Bland...) could recreate most of * batteries not included.
