ETA: as a point of protocol, it is considered proper to refer to Christine by the feminine pronoun. :) One of those things they never teach you about in the Manners course in home ec, more's the pity...
Commentary post-hack: The original link I had in this post had disappeared, so I did some googling for Christine, the transsexual LA Times sportswriter formerly known as Mike Penner. I discovered that Christine was returning to the LA Times under the Mike Penner byline, but nobody seemed to have any info as to why:

It is uncertain as of this writing (November 2008) whether this is a name-recognition issue, or what.

Quick fill-in-- it was me an Tib tonight (totally ineffective boss) and then the phones started crossing each other, so I was answering calls that he was in the middle of. The patrons were for once well-behaved, making up for the incredible ill-behaviour of two drunk volunteer ushers. Oh my god.
I bought cheetos on the way home. I'm not sorry.
