I am safe on the ground in Albany and soon to be en route to my new digs for the week. Meanwhile, the airport has what amounts to a Museum of Steampunk on the 3rd floor. Absolutely marvelous.

Best sight of the trip was either the pay per use phone charger vending machine or the octogenarian in a wheelchair and a Death Cab For Cutie shirt.

Catch you all later!

octogenarian in a wheelchair and a Death Cab For Cutie shirt.

"Death Cab for Cutie" is a terrible euphemism for an attractive octogenarian-bearing wheelchair.

There'd best be pictures of the Museum O' Steampunk forthcoming...

For a second there, I thought you meant Albany, NY, and I was wondering when the hell they added another floor to the airport. And what they'd done with the awesome one-sheet-of-folded-paper car they usually keep on the second floor...

Same.

I was also going to be put out because I was in the Albany, NY airport this morning and if I missed Sam... it would have been sad.

Ow, my apologies. I'm not fond of that airport. Except for the folded paper car thingie.

Bahaha, me too. I thought "Damn, I've been in that airport before, did they wait until I moved to put that in?"

I'm pretty sure he actually does, based on other context clues. But, then, I know nothing about the airport there.

Heh, I spent quite a long time living in Albany. I'm glad not to anymore.

Some of the surrounding towns/villages are quite nice, but...meh.

There are Stewartses (with cappuccino milks)! And Flights of Fantasy!

But I freely admit I've only ever been there whilst passing through the area, so.

But you can get cappuccino milk anywhere there's a Byrne Dairy franchise/concession, and theirs is better! It comes in MOCHA.

Well, ok, mocha - point! But I had never met a Byrne Dairy thingum; how was I supposed to know this? Still, though: Stewartses! Good things if one hasn't a Byrne!

I love how many people immediately thought "Albany NY" upon reading this. And here I thought I was the lone upstater hanging out 'round these here parts!

Yep, in California, Georgia, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin.

ETA: And Missouri. And Minnesota.

But I'm pretty sure he actually does mean the one in NY.

And Illinois, Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. I think there's a few others, too. And there's also an Albany Park in IL.

I was pretty sure, after second thoughts, that he meant Albany, Georgia. That's the Albany most people mean if they're not talking about New York...it's pretty even odds which will be meant whenever a random Albany is mentioned.

As a state capital, Albany NY is the first one most people think of... since almost everyone in the US knows it from geography classes....

Whoa, a local. Out of curiosity, are there any... fandom-related groups in the area? I just relocated to an Albany hamlet and am sadly deprived.

Oh, Albany International Airport, I have so many fond memories.

But no, really, there is a pretty cool museum in there.
