Apparently LJ's new Weirdly Spiritual Banner may be to mark Judgment Day, which I guess is scheduled for May 21st this year, according to a lot of billboards in California (this is the kind of information having a big readership nets you).
iamshadow suggested that "Judgment Day" is that time of the year that you go out of your way to be nice to your local magistrate -- send them flowers, make them feel appreciated.
I prefer to believe it's a day in which everyone just dedicates themselves to showing really good decision-making skills.
ON MAY 21ST: EAT HEALTHY AND DON'T JAYWALK!

But... Why is LJ involved? Like, why the banner? I don't get it. Is LJ suddenly Christian?

As for LJ being suddenly Christian ... maybe they just want to cover their backside? I mean, these people are only probably wrong!

People were not so pleased, and there was wank about it in the comments.

Not that I'm 100% sold on Christ ever being here in the first place.

You saw this, right? I bet China Mieville did, too, once upon a time :).

LJ can call it what they like. We can put our own, often rude, interpretation on it.

I saw the same bilbords when I was in Toronto a week ago, but thought it was some kind of a series of lectures or whatever. And apparently, it's the End of the World. Oh boy ))

I think that's relevant.
If not I'm just bragging.

There was an NPR (I think) story about this and it was really depressing, in that there are people who truly believe this guy that the world's going to end on the 21st. Including a family (mom, dad, baby and another baby on the way) who have basically budgeted themselves to run out of money on the 21st. I think their parents are stupid, but their kids? No really fair to them.

The LJ banner resembles the May 21 billboards?
I swear, I didn't take any painkillers today.

Not even when I go to the main page.
I've tried logging out and everything, but nope; still the same boring blue-with-a-pencil.
