I have conquered the Origami Sushi kit!

I don't know what the green cylinder is. Possibly it's supposed to be tea?

The yellow thing with the crooked white stuff is flan.

I'm not good at flan.

now i just really want some flan.

That is a thing of incomprehensible beauty. You know, you're not half bad at flan.

Flan is, admittedly, pretty hard.

Fun to say though.

Unbelievable! Now I want to go out for sushi.

Oh man, Sam that's not very nice. Now I really want sushi! *eyes her stirfry* :(

(Looks pretty good, btw. There's usually something in a sushi box that you're not quite sure what it actually is, so this is perfectly representative! :D)

Is there a place on the internet where I could buy this kit?

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
THERE IS!

http://www.jlist.com/product/ERS024

That's actually only about 2/3 of the kit, too -- you only get one bento and one flan, but most of the stuff you see in the bento you get two of.

[identity profile] laura47.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
yay, i have ordered it!

[identity profile] missmaillady.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Holy crap this looks fantastic.

[identity profile] calliope-jones.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's pretty darn cool, Sam.

[identity profile] plottwist13.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
PUDDI PUDDI!!!

[identity profile] ladytinyhelm.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
DAMMIT now there will be a chorus of adorable children singing accompaniment to my night. *fistshake*

(Also, I am very suspicious of Puddi Puddi. Nothing that wiggles like Puddi Puddi does can be entirely trustworthy.)

This may be stretching the whole "on topic" thing but hopefully it's cool. :)

So you used to make masks, yes? I was thinking of trying to make a weeping angel mask over the summer (which will eventually lead to an entire costume, but, well... tiny steps), but have little to no idea what would be the best thing to make it with. Do you know anything about using polymer clay (like super sculpey) in maskmaking? Or is there something that might work better? Any info would be greatly appreciated. :) (All my google searches are just making me more confused.)

I'm not familiar with 'paperclay', but that apparently is what the excellent penwiper (http://www.therpf.com/f24/doctor-who-blink-weeping-angel-costume-49264/) used for their Weeping Angel masks. Google tells me it's like Sculpey except you just leave it to dry rather than baking it, which might save on trying to wodge a mask in the oven.

[identity profile] mthespinner.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
Also, paperclay dries to a lighter weight. A mask of Sculpey or Fimo would be heavy.

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone else mentioned paperclay, which is very light and dries well -- I use paperclay for armatures for my masks, though not masks themselves. I find polymer clays to be too brittle to wear well, but I've never actually done a Weeping Angel mask. Are we talking like, a prosthetic over part of your face, or a full-face mask, a half-mask, or...? I should think paiper mache as a base, well-sanded, with detail accents done in paperclay, would be ideal for a full-face mask. But really the place to start is how big and how elaborate you want it, and what purpose you want it to serve. Most people I've seen cosplaying Weeping Angels just use facepaint.

Serious love for the unagi maki. Now I want sushi-and that is not available at 5:30AM. (Weeping....)

[identity profile] metallumai.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that's just silly. :D

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Silly like a fox!

...wait, that makes no sense...

[identity profile] waccawheels.livejournal.com 2011-05-02 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah it must be green tea, typically... maybe you should put the "surface" a bit deeper? :B

And you know what, the flan is perfect!
