So you used to make masks, yes? I was thinking of trying to make a weeping angel mask over the summer (which will eventually lead to an entire costume, but, well... tiny steps), but have little to no idea what would be the best thing to make it with. Do you know anything about using polymer clay (like super sculpey) in maskmaking? Or is there something that might work better? Any info would be greatly appreciated. :) (All my google searches are just making me more confused.)

I'm not familiar with 'paperclay', but that apparently is what the excellent penwiper (http://www.therpf.com/f24/doctor-who-blink-weeping-angel-costume-49264/) used for their Weeping Angel masks. Google tells me it's like Sculpey except you just leave it to dry rather than baking it, which might save on trying to wodge a mask in the oven.

Also, paperclay dries to a lighter weight. A mask of Sculpey or Fimo would be heavy.

Someone else mentioned paperclay, which is very light and dries well -- I use paperclay for armatures for my masks, though not masks themselves. I find polymer clays to be too brittle to wear well, but I've never actually done a Weeping Angel mask. Are we talking like, a prosthetic over part of your face, or a full-face mask, a half-mask, or...? I should think paiper mache as a base, well-sanded, with detail accents done in paperclay, would be ideal for a full-face mask. But really the place to start is how big and how elaborate you want it, and what purpose you want it to serve. Most people I've seen cosplaying Weeping Angels just use facepaint.
