(no subject)

I'm slowly catching up on House MD, and currently watching the one from last season where he diagnoses the soap star.

They're...not really even trying to pretend he's straight anymore, huh?

House isn't straight? What? *is confused*

I've only just started watching House...and in thoroughly random order since I'm at the mercy of cable tv.

House totally likes sex with women, but he also totally fancies Wilson, and has boycrushes on other guys throughout. Personally I don't think that Greg House has any sexual orientation. Sex is sex, and if it happens with him in it then all the better. I suppose that makes him Bi, if you've got to put a label on it.

This really makes me want to watch this, but I so suck at watching TV unless I'm too sick to hold up a book, and then I can't follow the plot. (sigh) (Then I watch wildlife documentaries. Either the lion caught the gazelle or it didn't, it's irrelevant. Life on the serengheti has moved on...)

God, wildlife documentaries are so RIVETING, aren't they? It's like, AND THEY TOTALLY MATED BUT THEN THE LITTLE BITCH ATE HIS HEAD. I'm convinced that nature is one giant soap that some great Beard in the Sky has put on for its own amusement.

Nature is not only weirder than we imagine, it is weirder than we can imagine.

Insect sex, exhibit 1.

I amused myself by sending my boyfriend a note over IM: "Want to see some boobies?" He, being male, said, "Sure!" I sent him a picture of two blue-footed boobies. (snicker).

[identity profile] jolly-oddness.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 07:37 am (UTC)(link)

Boobies! They're the best birds ever. They have blue feet and the most amusing faces. Have you seen that BBC Galapagos documentary?

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you seen the icon of two blue-footed boobies staring at two much smaller birds? The smaller birds are saying "Boobies!" and the Boobies are saying, "Tits!"

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be the one! :D I hadn't seen the bit with the cat though, that's BRILLIANT.

[identity profile] alexandralynch.livejournal.com 2008-12-09 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oo, no, I haven't, but I would love to. (giggle) That sort of thing amuses me greatly.

[identity profile] the-glow-worm.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Fantastic!

I love boobie jokes. There's a T-shirt somewhere with "NICE BOOBIES" on it and a picture of two blue-footed boobies. *grin*

THAT LITTLE RAT-LOOKING THING JUST GOT ATE!

DAMN NATURE, YOU SCARY!

And of course whether you want the lion to catch the gazelle all depends on whether you are watching 'Lions: Predator of Africa' or 'The Sure Footed Beasts Of The Plains'.

I have noticed that :D Who I'm rooting for depends entirely on whose children were cavorting with each other in the previous few scenes.

This is so very, very true. See also arctic fox: lemming, and leopard seal:penguin. Actually no, the viewer is _always_ on the side of the penguin. Except in the penguin-stuck-in-an-ice-hole controversy (http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_6140000/newsid_6143500/6143586.stm). (Goodness knows why I can only find a Newsround link - this was in all the papers. Still, Newsround is generally regarded as a reliable source).

It all makes sense now.

He's Jack Harkness's great-great-umptymillion-great ancestor.

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
He's the default sort of straight that every character who doesn't actively express serious interest in homosexual relationships is -- which is to say he's obviously interested in women, and yet at the same time he's just a little too close to Wilson and in the episode I mentioned he kidnapped a soap opera hunk to run experiments on him. :D

[identity profile] skelody.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Butbutbut.... if women can go rabid!fan over female characters, why can't men go rabid!fan over male chara... well, actors?

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh? I don't think I said anything about fandom....*confused*

[identity profile] skelody.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's what it was, wasn't it? House being obsessively fannish over the soap actor?

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I see what you mean. It's possible, but most of us don't go out and kidnap the actor in question :D
