Sam Starbuck brings the internet TO YOU!

Actually I just ended up with a lot of lolarious links today.

[livejournal.com profile] seneska pointed out that xkcd has intriguing timing given what I posted about last night -- I swear I'm not Randall Munroe, though there are days I wish I was.

[livejournal.com profile] misswinterhill linked me to a video of BABY SLOTHS OMG WHY ARE THEY SO AWESOME. I especially like the Zen Sloth Monk in the last shot, he looks like he could tell us the secret of the universe but that would spoil all the fun.

[livejournal.com profile] hija_paloma linked to this song/vid while making a point about Transformative Works, and I can't stop listening to it. I would be ashamed, but sorry, I'm too busy ROCKING OUT.

And then....there was the Doctorcorn.

So yesterday, in response to my post about my uneasy but awesome relationship with the internet, [livejournal.com profile] wildeagain said, "Wow, you're a little like a unicorn. You exist and do not exist." This inspired some awesome filk and also caused me to remark to [livejournal.com profile] amand_r and [livejournal.com profile] misswinterhill that I'd been called a unicorn. Which inspired the following conversation:

Amand_r: You're visually elusive?  Can only be touched by virgins?  Your blood can bring Voldemort into this world again?
MissWinterhill: Merlin will cry if you die! Don't die, Sam! (You're nowhere near innocent enough to be a unicorn, are you?)
Sam: I don't know that unicorns are all that innocent, are they? They're just attracted to it. Which is kind of ooky now I think on it. UNICORNS. I AM AMBIVALENT.

And then I linked to an image that we had discovered a few weeks before when [livejournal.com profile] amand_r linked us, of a famous French porn star named Fred Faurtin dressed as a unicorn. The campest unicorn ever to prance, in fact.

Believe it or not, that's not the funniest photo of the set. You can see the rest here, if you're into it; they're pretty NSFW, even if you don't have a filter, given the close-up shots of a cock encased in pink pleather. (Side note: Fred Faurtin recently released an art book that actually looks pretty awesome; lest ye judge him for the unicorns, this, also NSFW, is from another shoot he did recently.)

ANYWAY. [livejournal.com profile] snaxcident took issue!

Snaxcident: The cuffs and collar are non-canonical. They throw me right out of the manicorn fantasy! Everyone knows gay unicorns don't wear bowties!!!!
Sam: BOW TIES ARE COOL OK
MissWinterhill: Oh, pleeeeaase make a doctorcorn.

And then I opened photoshop.

I think he's workin' it, don't you?

(Incidentally, does anyone think that picture makes it look like the TARDIS is sneaking up behind him for some nefarious purpose?)

I'd seen a shot of the Manicorn via a link in a [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes post (http://community.livejournal.com/metaquotes/7384753.html). I did not realize there was an entire photoshoot. GOD I love the Internet.

Great. Now whenever I look at that picture I'm gonna hear Jethro Tull's "Aqualung" -- "Eying little girls Eleven with bad intent (duh nuh NUH na nuh nuh)..."

O_O

Well... this is not what I expected to see first thing in the morning. But I don't mind. At all.

(Sam, after looking at those pics... I'm not going to draw you as a unicorn).

EEEEEE baby sloths! I totally cracked up at the one who went *tip...tip...CLUNK* while clinging to a toy.

And that mashup is a thing of beauty. Incredible the amount of work that had to go into it, and it's amazing how coherent it is.

OMG ME TOO!!! Actually, I had to "cough politely" as I'm at work. And the one right after that one who was yawning??!? So cute!!!

I fucking love that mashup. The first time my friend played it for me was in the middle of a ridiculous rager of a New Years party and I have had positive associations with it ever since. Seeing it linked here brings me unspeakable happiness.

I have never before had a fondness for sloths. Oh, the realizations this journal brings me to! How many times a day do you hear that, huh?

I saw the one who tipped over, and the one just after cuddling into the towel, and thought: "NOW I know where they got Yoda's face from!"

Oh, honey, NO.

Have you seen this link about sloths? I don't want to put you off them, but I guess every now and then we *all* do something a bit bizarre.

Now, I totally have the image of the Tardis stalking and then kidnapping good (or what she thinks are good) companions for the doctor. Why do you do these things to me?

Okay, I couldn't even glance at that photo set without thinking of Always by Erasure.

LOL, what a great idea for a fanfic...all you hear is a wheezing noise and a clomping, and then the dude next to you disappears, and there's a metallic sort of burp...and then all is quiet....

Date: 2010-05-17 05:41 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com
HAAAHAHAHA I marvel actually at that, when Claire says, "there was no character to break!"

I suspect sometimes that is true.

You realize that you neglected to make us icons.

We're all going to cross the line into crazy-ass manticorn Doctor pervery, the fan community will need a way to proclaim it across the internet with a minimum of fuss.
