Ooh, I can't wait to see how this plays out.

I was struck by this bit of dialogue: "I didn't want to -- I knew someone who -- look, I didn't want to think about it, okay? Not more than I had to." Oh, Harkness, you and your manpain. DO YOUR DAMN JOB. I like to think that somewhere in Pete's world, Rose felt a sudden urge to reach across universes and give Jack a resounding thump to the back of the head.

Also due for a ding 'round the ear? Gwen, for playing Solitaire while "guarding" Ianto. He's not in a cell, he's sitting right there, unrestrained -- frankly it would have served her right if he'd stabbed her in the eye with that dried out biro.

LOL, yeah, Jack's mainpain is not doing him any favours at the moment. :D

I think by the time Gwen's assigned to guard Ianto they're pretty positive he's not going to stab any of them with a biro, poor lad. Though I find it rather funny she gave him her paperwork to do and he did it.

Granted, with Lisa dead and Ianto's antenna (*gyagh*) removed the immediate threat is gone, but who knows what subroutines are still in Ianto's head...

Yeah, I'm in the middle of reading World War Z so I'm more than usually paranoid at the moment.

Cool, I can't wait to see how this goes.

Cyberwoman wasn't really one of my favourites but Cybermen are very interesting.

So yeah enjoyed that chapter.

Cyberwoman's a hard episode to watch. Especially with the knowledge that we never really get a proper coda to it. Still, that's half the fun of writing our own, I suppose...

Nice and creepy. I love how you worked in the Tomb of the Cybermen stuff.

Just when I think I've ready every possible permutation of the Cyberwoman story - you go and come up with something totally fresh and unique. How do you do it?

LOL! A lot of classic who and some sturm und drang whilst writing, I suppose :D

Wow Sam, your writing goes from strength to strength. It's not the technical ability to write which you have in spades - the unique thing you have is the way you take what is now a well used fandom and in this case, a very overblown post episode and make it completely fresh and new. This is fantastic. It's creepy and it's extremely disturbing and it _isn't_ emo. That in itself, for a Cyberwoman fic is just amazing.
Can't wait for the rest.

Thank you! I didn't really set down to write a New And Strange coda to Cyberwoman, but I'm pleased to have done so :)

Jesus H. Christ!!!!

Sam have I ever told you how much I love you?

I am so excited about this story. Danse played with a slightly similar idea a while back but you, you have jumped onto the tiger and pulled us all on with you. We had all better hang on tight to the ears!

Oh, and this is Otrame's Second Law* with a vengence. I am so excited. I know what you can do with a story like this.

*Everyone will be compelled to write a post-Cyberwoman story eventually.

LOL, I think I've already written like three. It is kind of a fandom rite of passage :D

This is awesome. The idea that much of Ianto's subservient blandness is due not to a deliberate desire to fade out of notice but instead to a level of conditioning that thrust his personality so far under the surface as to be nearly irretrievable - that's a wonderful new take on this story. [livejournal.com profile] curriejean's The Treachery of Images explored the idea that the Cyberman was exploiting and manipulating Ianto, but this takes it to creepy new levels.

I think I like your Owen best of all, though. His flatness as a mask for rage, his disdain as a mask for doctorly and human compassion - it's just how I see him.

I also totally love stories that explore what a very bad, self-absorbed, short-sighted manager Jack is. Jack would totally suck as the head of an organization.

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it, and I'll have to check out The Treachery Of Images. :)

I've found that when I have the opportunity to write Owen, I really enjoy giving him nuance. And oh, poor Jack, he's really not suited to be anyone's manager. At least he tries, I suppose.

Haven't read Treachery yet, hm? I think you'll enjoy it. I keep meaning to write the rec for Torchwood_house, but haven't gotten around to it yet, but I keep spreading the word. It is, hands down, the best post-CW story I've ever read.

Owen is, at least, one of the characters who was given a decent amount of nuance in the show. A lot of that is down to the actor, but some of it is the writing. There's a fair bit to work with there, and all of it interesting.

This is off to a great start and I'm intrigued. I particulary liked the scene with Jack and Victoria being a fan of classic Who.

Sam, I love you, but I have to nitpick. You seem to have Ianto in two places at once:

Jack took him by the shoulders and walked him down the hall to the atrium, then pushed him down to sit, probably very uncomfortably, on the stairs.

...

He walked back to where they'd left the bodies and crouched next to hers,... If she hadn't been dead before, she was now.

He glanced at Ianto but Ianto was checked out, nobody home, bluescreen of death. Jack considered that the most merciful thing he could possibly do would be a bullet through the head, but if his suspicions were right then Ianto should at least be given a chance.

If Ianto has been walked down the hall to the atrium, he shouldn't be near enough to Lisa to see what Jack is doing.

ARGH, I thought I'd caught all that -- I originally wrote it with her dead in the atrium, before remembering that's not where she was killed. Fixed it now, thanks!
