I've been recc'd in a magazine!

[info]heidi8 had fifty fanfic recs "for total newbies" published in Movie Magic Magazine, the PoA issue, which apparently just came out (yeah, like I'm gonna find that in St. Nowhere, Whitebread County, Midwest. Ah well :D).

[info]essayel, so glad you let me know there were wee ones reading it, so that I got the bright idea of posting kid friendly versions...
Well, as excellent as it is to know that I can survive the wilds of urban St. Nowhere with only my wits, a bus pass, and a five dollar bill, I think this afternoon's adventure could be dubbed a qualified failure.

What is it with this town? Nobody reads? Eh? WHY ARE THERE NO BOOKSTORES?

All I wanted was to get hold of a copy of the Movie Magic magazine, and I will unflinchingly admit it's primarily because I want to see my name in print, but also because it's the PoA edition, which means there will probably be new pictures to mock and bemoan.

I caught the bus, and managed to hit a second-hand bookstore which, you guessed it, only sells second-hand magazines. It was quite depressing, as it also did not stock any Stout, Steinbeck, or decent anime (only rather pathetic children's wannabe anime. Wannime?). I did manage to pick up a $2 copy of "Silver Pigs", reason #1 the trip is only a qualified failure.

Reason number two is GARLIC NAAN BREAD. *mouthgasm*

In the same shopping centre as The Only Bookstore In The Entire State, I discovered a little gourmet imports store, which means I now have Na'an bread, garlic-mustard to dip the na'an bread in, Pfeifferneuss (I hate the stuff, but Bernard likes it) and tadka dal. I was going to buy yorkshire pudding mix, but the instructions said to add milk, butter, and eggs, which means really it's a sack of FLOUR with good PR.

Anyway. Back home am I, glad to be out of the wide strange world and curled up in my flat.
