Off to Moody Gardens Aquarium! Have sketchbook, have digital camera, have tickets to 3-D movie about sharks, have apparent visual fixation. See you all on the far side of the seahorses.
I should warn everyone that while I am reading comments in a desultory sort of way, I'm about three days behind on even reading emails, let alone replying, and am barely skimming my LJ. To those who are ill, feel better; to those who are not, keep safe.

In less mature news, OMG I DRAWED PENGUINS.

Moody Gardens was fantastic; I rambled around the aquarium, sketching and taking photos and gawping at turtles, until I got tired of screaming school groups and then went to lunch at the Garden Restaurant, where I got a free a-fucking-mazing view with my club sandwich and Coke. Why would anyone buy a four dollar slice of pizza from a concessions stand when they could go sit by the window and, for six dollars, get a nice sandwich and chips? It was so completely relaxing. I love it when I get to do exactly what I want.

After lunch I had tickets to the the IMAX movie on sharks. It was mediocre, but redeemed in part by the three-dimensional jellyfish that flew up my nose.

The thing is, if I go to see a show about sharks, I want feeding frenzies, blood in the water, three rows of teeth, men in shark cages, and one-armed surfers going "dude, it was intense." I don't want a sea-turtle lecturing me about the food chain. I also got one of those smushed pennies with printed things on them cos I like the penguins with the furry ears that one of them had on it.

Now the Belles are asking me to mediate a decision about dinner (Rainforest Cafe, Landry's, or Chinese?) so I must away.
