Jan. 2nd, 2006 10:18 amI had a horrible thought* this morning.
Gilderoy Lockhart, for all intents and purposes, is probably in his middle-thirties, right? I mean, okay, Kenneth Branagh is not, but then neither is Alan Rickman, so that's a moot argument. ("It's moo." "Moo?" "Yeah. Doesn't mean anything. Like a cow's opinion. Moo.")
So...it's not just likely but entirely probable that he was at school with the Marauders, if indeed he went to Hogwarts. Given his fashion sense I'd say Beauxbatons, but I can't imagine him having the facility to learn a whole nother language just in order to suck at magic in general.
Ow. Just the thought...I mean, I assume he was a Slytherin, of the worst order -- wanting all the fame without doing much of the work -- which means he was probably a year or two up from Snape and he must have been a Really Popular Kid and Snape and the Marauders all hated him and OMG NO ENEMIES TEAM UP TO FIGHT THE ULTIMATE EVIL FICS PLZ.
In other news, so far 2006 is very pleasant, consisting mostly of delicious food.
* Horrible in that it's likely to inspire some terrifying fanfic.
