So, this is what happened. I can't actually give you precise details because I signed this confidentiality thing, but I'll give you the distilled essence.

Apparently, so I found out from a colleague who's done this before, Manager (who will never ever have a nickname) tends to fire one person from every new cohort that comes under her management, presumably as a warning to the rest that it's shape-up or ship-out. This is very Machiavellian of her, so I can't really disapprove. But I feel that if she is going to fire one person, she should fire the least competent, instead of me.

What she did, in essence, was to diddle my daily statistics. She didn't actually go in and alter any numbers, but she programmed in some assumptions about incomplete data that were not only wrong, they were deliberately, unreasonably wrong.

It was easiest to make me look least efficent, firstly because she knew my name from when I was working there setting up computers, so she had a name she could watch, and secondly because I'm much faster than everyone else. It was easier to fuck about with my numbers so that I dropped sixty percentage points than it was to actually figure out who was least competent.

Fortunately, my supervisor St. Longhorn -- who is a veteran of her campaigns -- sat down and did some work with the numbers and realised what her, ahahaha, "error" had been, and pointed it out to her. So, now I'm not on probation, but he has restricted me from grading more than a certain number of papers per night, so that she can't fuck my stats again.

Her purpose has been more-or-less served, since everyone in the room knew I was on probation and likely to be sacked -- there's no such thing as privacy in this situation, I knew that going in, which is why I purposefully tried not to suck.

So, yes. My fury knows no bounds.
