Scenes from the Internet #9:

Sam: I wish I was doing as much drugs as Reg[ulus Black in my RP] is doing this weekend, jesus. I've invented a character SO MUCH COOLER THAN ME it isn't even funny.
Person Who Will Be Credited If She Wants: On the upside, you'll live longer than he will.
Sam: Good point, and I won't suffer short term memory loss by the time I'm thirty.
Person: Actually, old age takes care of that for you.
Sam: ACTUALLY actually, I already do. *points to huge pile of sticky note reminders*
Person: HA! I can't remember anything from one day to the next.
Sam: I don't need short term memory. THAT'S WHAT LIVEJOURNAL IS FOR.

Commentary post-hack: I. Just. *weeps*

Further commentary post-hack: NO idea who I was chatting with.
I will write more coeherently upon this later, but I just saw Take The Lead, aka Antonio Banderas teaches ghetto!kids to ballroom dance. I have to say, and this is ME saying this, me who hates most movies, but:

I loved this film.

Yes, there are some cliches, and yes, it's part of the new Ballroom Dancing fad, but the soundtrack couldn't be better, the story was well told, the acting and dancing were both top-notch, and it was funny.

I think what I liked most about it, and why I hope it gets a lot of attention, is the message of the film, which isn't about overcoming or hip hop versus oldies or haves versus havenots. The message of the film, and I will transcribe the speech from it that I particularly liked, eventually, was this:

"Useless" art and culture has value. Art, dance, performance, and music lift and elevate the human soul; just because you can't touch or quantify what it imparts does not mean it doesn't exist and isn't real. It is worth the resources spent to produce and encourage it.

And I like that.
