May. 31st, 2006 10:46 pmWell, today I got my email down from 75 to 40, which is usually where it hovers anyway. I got my bags unpacked. I did the dishes. I dubbed all of Ouran High School Host Club to DVD and the last two episodes of House from this season also. In the process I taught Bernard how to dub to DVD. I accepted delivery of the two boxes of books that I shipped home from BookExpo and sifted through them, sorting out all the paper ephemera I always return with from any trip I take. Let the collaging commence!
I started a Chicago Pile for cold-weather clothing and priced out rents for flats and rooms. It appears to be slightly cheaper than housing in Boston*, though part of that comes from the fact that the rents listed for Chicago are generally utilities-inclusive.
* What is it with me and cities that involve fart euphemisms? Beantown? The windy city? What the hell, me?
I have also composed a list of Chicago Questions. PLZ FEEL FREE TO ANSWER THEM. :D
1. Where are the theatres? Is there a district? What transit lines, pref. trains, are nearby?
2. Where are the temp agencies? Which are best?
3. Where am I likely to work if I sign with a temp agency? What transit lines are nearby?
4. What neighborhoods are also on those lines?
4a. What neighborhoods are cheapest?
Our internet is back so I may be more present tomorrow than I was today, but then again possibly not. I'm "putting my house in order" as the saying goes. Actually, and I looked this up, that saying comes from the Bible, and it alludes to what you ought to do before you die. Which, in a way, is nicely in keeping with the dead year, so I shan't bother about the eerie connotations.
I require many cardboard boxes. I shall have to raid the garage.
