Jul. 2nd, 2006 11:47 pmI just watched Gone With the Wind. The entire four hours. Seven to eleven.
For the first time ever.
Jesus. I mean really. I'd heard enough about the movie and seen enough assorted clips that I thought I understood what the plot was and I was SO WRONG. Nobody told me Rhett Butler was such a splendid dickhead, for a start. Hell, if you hold it up to the film-school definition of noir as "a film where nobody is innocent" Gone With The Wind totally qualifies as film noir.
I especially love how basically the last half-hour of the film is some kind of bodies-piling-up-onstage Shakespearean tragedy. ROCKS FALL, EVERYBODY DIES.
