delayed at ohare & in dallas now. eta to austin 8:30. texas still abhorrent. yrs from purgatory, sam.
So, I'm home and have been for a while, although the delay in Chicago-Dallas amounted to only about two hours, in the end. I was literally the last standby passenger called for the earliest flight out of Dallas, which was nice.

The family is not much changed, though Dog has lost a lot of weight (which is good, he was overweight). The income from Lucky's family investments has wrought some astounding changes, however. The house used to have wall-to-wall carpeting with lino in the kitchen; the lino is still there, and so is the carpeting in the bedrooms, but the rest of it has been replaced with hardwood flooring. There's a new (leather) sofa and a new (leather) easy chair and a new (plasma flat-screen) television. The central air-and-heating unit is new, also.

I'm a bit bewildered. And sort of afraid to sit on the sofa.

Still, as I said, the family is much the same and it's not upsetting so much as mildly confusing.

I'm not sure I can even go into the day I've had at the airport. It's all kind of a blur anyway, possibly because after two slices of toast around 6am I didn't eat again until I got home at seven-ish. At that point, however, there was chex mix and chips with dip and enchiladas, lots of enchiladas, so I am sated.

I thought I wouldn't be around at all tomorrow, but as it turns out we're not leaving until noon. I'm going to be doing laundry and stuff, but I'll be in and out till then.

Bwah. I SLEEP NOW.
