Jun. 13th, 2007 09:44 amI only have forty hours of work next week. And I get two days off in a row. You cannot know how excited I am about this.
Though I do have some questions. Questions like, why were there five of us at work yesterday when there are only four chairs, and relatedly why then did I still have 54 hours of work this week? Why, now that season-ticket sales are essentially done and we're heading into some downtime, are six new people being hired, and relatedly why are six new people being hired when we only needed four?
HERE IS A HINT on that last one: our big boss is gay and two of the new people are incredibly good-looking gay men.
One of them actually looks exactly how Junus from Felinecor's Land always looked in my head. Deep brown skin, blue eyes, no hair. It's a little eerie. Although I'm glad we hired him; I think the entire box office was united in saying Hire Him because he's friends with one of our departed coworkers (Coworker E) and she told us his story. He's in the middle of getting his degree and he came out to his parents about his sexuality, so they gave him two options: Not Be Gay and continue to receive support for school, or Be Gay and get cut off from all financial support. Which, of course, is not actually two options at all, but instead a cruelty I will never comprehend. So he needs the job badly.
It was actually a little bit funny, the conversation we had.
E: I think they were more angry that he didn't tell them. He's really close to them, and they accused him of lying to them for years.
M: I'm sorry, but how dumb are his parents? I'm pretty sure anyone who has spent five minutes with him could have told them he's gay. And fabulous!
