I realised, while watching an old episode of QI last night, that there are some casting decisions I would very much like to see made.

Prime among these is, if the Guards ever get a live-action film: I will accept nobody but Alan Davis in the role of Carrot. This may seem quixotic as he is neither large nor redheaded, but I dare you to watch him be cheerfully childlike and eternally hopeful about the world for an entire episode and then tell me that anyone else will suit.

Also, I vote Stephen Fry for Horace Slughorn. He kind of looks like an armchair already. And, because Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie go together like chocolate and more chocolate (and Imelda Staunton's already in them anyway) I also vote Hugh Laurie for Rufus Scrimgeour.

He wouldn't even have to learn to limp!
What do you reckon the input to output ratio of the internet is?

At first I thought the input must be greater, but I've changed my mind. Every website or post must be seen by at least one person other than its creator, mustn't it? Even privatelocked posts are a collaborative effort between coders and users. And some websites are seen by millions of people each day. So I guess that the output must be greater than the input, which makes the whole thing a sort of living, heaving entity (yeasty, to use Jack London's terms). I wonder what the output level actually is, compared to input.

And then I got to thinking, what if there's some website out there that nobody has ever seen? The secret site, known only to its creator, like some kind of mystic codex. Possibly there are websites out there generated by the internet that not even the creators have seen, a kind of byproduct of all that information, assembled by some long-forgotten spider-bot program on a lost server somewhere.

Maybe the internet has a blog.

Probably filled with cat macros, inspirational forwards, and inaccurate facts from Wikipedia.

I sense a quest coming on.
