R has spent most of the afternoon so far trying to get on C-Span's open call-in show. He's pretty politically active in an intellectual sense -- he watches a lot of speeches and political discussions, though he doesn't actively participate in political life too much. This whole caucus thing has him all keyed up. We're both history students -- I took a minor in classics as an undergrad and his major was in American history, so between us we cover a lot of ground. He knows way more American history than I do, obviously, but I can explain the basis of American government and early national life much better than he can, because so much of it is rooted in Greek and Roman romanticism.

I woke up last night around two am and wrote a bit, and ended up writing a ghost story for J&E that scared me so badly I couldn't get back to sleep for a while. In the light of day it's not much, which I suppose is just as well. :D I also managed to cook some scratch mac & cheese and baked a cake in the new cake pan mum got me.

I'm on the last three episodes of QI before I'm done with all five seasons. Home stretch!
R and I watched an awesome surfing documentary called Riding Giants, which he was watching mainly for the music and I was watching mainly because I like obscure historical stories. It's a decent film, though rather dark at times. I just finished watching Iron Chef.

Show of hands, those who watch Iron Chef just to see if this is the episode where Mario Batali keels over from a massive coronary.
