Feb. 1st, 2008

I showered with my cast on this morning for the first time -- my last cast had a cotton liner that soaked up water and held onto it, but this cast has a gore-tex liner under a fibreglass shell, so it's safe to get wet. Except that apparently, when you do, you get wet skin and liner for the rest of the morning. My hand may never be dry again.

Anyway. Saw Torchwood last night, so it's time for Sam's Three Things About Torchwood! )

3a. I love steampunk props. :D
OH MY GOD SO

One portobello mushroom cap
Oil
Brie
Fig Jam (or some other sweet preserve)
A hoagie roll or two slices of bread dense and durable enough to stand up to the weight of MY GENIUS.

Spread fig jam on the bottom half of the hoagie roll. Slice brie and place on top of fig jam. Set aside.

Clean, stem, and if you hate gills (as all right-thinking people do) scoop the gills out of the mushroom. Slice it into finger-width sections.

Heat the oil in the pan and place the slices in the pan. Cook, turning as needed, until the smallest pieces are a deep brown and the larger are just turning golden at the edges. Drain on paper towel.

Place the slices on top of the brie, place the top of the hoagie on top, and let sit while you put out some potato chips and pour a drink.

Make this noise: OM NOM NOM NOM NOM.
