Well, that was an over-reaction.

Sam's mental state, still, you know. *teeter totter gesture*

My wrist feels better this morning, I think it must have been fatigue combined with sleeping on it wrong and doing a lot of manual work yesterday. It's stiff from the brace, but not painful.
I love this poem...

Surgical Ward
by W.H. Auden

They are and suffer; that is all they do;
A bandage hides the place where each is living,
His knowledge of the world restricted to
The treatment that the instruments are giving.
And lie apart like epochs from each other
-- Truth in their sense is how much they can bear;
It is not talk like ours, but groans they smother --
And are remote as plants; we stand elsewhere.
For who when healthy can become a foot?
Even a scratch we can't recall when cured,
But are boist'rous in a moment and believe
In the common world of the uninjured, and cannot
Imagine isolation. Only happiness is shared,
And anger, and the idea of love.

...yet I will never not laugh at the line "For who when healthy can become a foot?"
Hey look. I have three things to talk about.

1. A deeply unnerving percentage of my sample population lists an oversexed time-traveling immortal action hero as their gateway character. I'm just saying. He was edging out the traumatised obsessive Welsh math whiz for a while there.

2. Way not enough of those who saw Doctor Who's premier think that Evil Character is Evil and not just Sad. Your trusting natures are admirable and you are totally not allowed to recommend babysitters for my eventual children.

3. Hey, you know that thing where you take maximum strength pain relievers and instead of them relieving the pain now you are just sleepy and in pain? No? Well, I do.

3a. Coworker J got all up in mah grille about the fact that I was saying the best thing about a White Sox Stadium METRA-train stop is that there will be fewer people on the El. He took this to mean that I didn't want him getting his Sox Fans in my Red Line. I was able to assure him that I hate Cubs fans way more than I hate Sox fans.
