Now see, this is the reason I am at heart an academic. I could handwave crossword puzzles into existence in the late 19th century, when really they didn't come round till the early 20th. But if I didn't look around for a newspaper puzzle of the sort that might be printed in 1871, I wouldn't have been able to share this tale of woe and destruction of library property with you.

Oh, Sinfest. Why you gotta give me so much icon fodder?

I stayed in all day today because it was pissing down out, though I did carry to the dumpster some of the Behemoth But Ultimately Useless For My Purposes boxes that the shelving came in. I did not do much of anything else. In fact if asked what I did with my day I'd be a trifle hard-pressed to tell you. There may have been sleeping involved. I also rediscovered several old toaster-oven tricks I used to know, such as the fact that you can cook hot dogs in them.

I'm currently two and a half minutes into last week's SGA, and I'm just not sure I can continue. I think McKay's three second not-even-trying-to-hide-the-exposition summary of the Doctor McHaggisClone arc may have put the final stake in SGA's chest.

*wipes tears of mirth out of eyes*

Oh, SGA. You give me hope that I, too, can one day write for television. Just point me at whoever you slept with to get you this gig and I'll show up with a studded belt and a weevil-beatin' stick.

3a. AHAHAHAHA GO BEAVERS. Get it? Because it's an all-girls team! Because SGA has strong female characters! Totally! And they are absolutely not the butts of jokes or written with painful lack of subtlety, and when the men tell them to stay put and shut up they obey because they are strong. Also it's funny when girls are bad at counting.
