Good morning! Still not dead. Feeling less sore today, though I kinda feel like the first ten minutes of the day must be how non-morning-people spend every morning -- miserable and groggy -- and I have newfound sympathy for them.

I got up and prepped the bread to bake -- it rose once overnight, but it got cold in the flat and I'm a little worried about the dough's continual ability to rise after having been punched down. So it's sitting on top of my heat-leaky oven, which I preheated to 350 and then turned off. Hopefully the fact that I don't have a cast-iron pan to bake it in won't matter too much. And why don't I have a cast-iron pan, anyway? I need to buy myself some heavy crockery at some point, now that I've made the decision to stay in this place for a few years. I'd never bought any before, because I knew I would be moving regularly, but now I want some. I'll have to look into the matter.

In other news, two of the SGA fics I wrote -- Angles Thus And So and The Difference Engine -- have been nominated for the 2008 McKay/Sheppard awards. AT&S was a little surprising because it's about 80% McKay/Weir (stfu) but I classed it as a "Drama". I ended up classing The Difference Engine as a Drama as well, but only because "Science Fiction" wasn't on offer.

Only in the SGA fandom, you guys, would Science Fiction not be a genre while "Aliens Made Them Do It" is. Even Torchwood hasn't got an Aliens Made Them Do It genre, although this is possibly because no aliens are required in order for anyone, at any time, to be doing it.

I mean, just picture it...

"In order to board the TARDIS, you must engage in a sacred ritual of trust with our people -- "

"Jack! Stop telling them that. He doesn't mean it, you know."

"But Doctor -- "

"And stop referring to your penis as your People!"
