Jan. 20th, 2009 02:44 pmSo! Good music, yay Diane Feinstein, little flub with the swearing-in, excellent inauguration speech.
Chicago stopped dead for two hours, I swear, while the inauguration took place. I know our office did -- and most of it ended up huddled around my desk because I was the only person who could get a live stream that didn't jerk and jumpcut (local TV news websites are always the place to go for stuff like this). General consensus is that Barack Obama's a rock star, his first year is going to suck hard for everyone but for him especially, and the poem was boring.
And then...there's this.
I took a walk at lunch and encountered the Hideous Sculpture, but the Tribune had set up Jumbotron TVs for free viewing of the inauguration and some clever wag placed them right in front of the Hideous Sculpture, so it looks like the twenty-foot-tall American Gothic couple were watching the inauguration too. Creepy? Hell yes, especially with the teeny tiny mounted police officer in the lower right.
And that's been my day -- coughing a bit but feeling lots better, watching Chicago's golden son get sworn in, and eating lunch.
I am totally ready for a nap.
