Progressing from least to most frivolous:

Not even remotely funny: [livejournal.com profile] lilly_rose is a fellow fan who is recovering from surgery for a brain tumour earlier this month. She has no health insurance and she needs help. I gave, because I have the money, and if you can I hope you will too. If you can't, and god knows some of us can't, please consider linking the post on your LJ. I'm often skeptical about these things, but I've read back in her journal and I am convinced this is a bona fide and difficult-to-request call.

Not an April Fool's joke: the trailer for the new Planet Of The Dead Doctor Who Special is out. OMG. (Spoilers in comments, potentially, both here and at the vid.)

Actually an April Fool's joke: Torchwood TV claims S4 of Torchwood may lose John Barrowman to ITV. Meaning Gwen will get central protagonist role and more airtime. Just like all the fans have dreamed of!

(No but really, I am much mellower towards her than I used to be.)

Also, I am snotting and coughing everywhere. WAY TO BE, APRIL.
And that is how, with:

-- a fake LiveJournal
-- a web-capable mobile phone
-- a little ingenuity
-- a tiara (to get "into" the role)
-- and an urge for vengeance after being slimed

one convinces the Captain to turn in his Annual Report on time.

It's a lot of work, but so worth it.

ETA: Oh, crap. D-8
So, it's Poetry Month, and by tradition I always kick it off with the same poem. This year, I'd also like to link back to a post I made last year, commemorating the anniversary of a very special event for me: The day my student told me he broke his penis.

Feel free to comment. I am so sad all the comments were lost.

And now, drumroll please:

The Symbolic Poem

This poem can only be appreciated by reading it aloud, to wit:

Waka waka bang splat tick tick hash,
Caret quote back-tick dollar dollar dash,
Bang splat equal at dollar under-score,
Percent splat waka waka tilde number four,
Ampersand bracket bracket dot dot slash,
Vertical-bar curly-bracket comma comma CRASH.

A poll conducted among readers of InFocus magazine, where it was originally published, established "waka" as the proper pronunciation for the angle-bracket characters, though some held out resolutely for "norkie".
Hooray!

We have got the report in on time, it worked, and Jack is almost not pissed off at me anymore. Meantime, I have swiped his Pimm's and gotten pissed. BECAUSE. The report thing. Is done! And tomorrow I'm going to have to clean up the archives Jack destroyed looking for the stuff. Recipes. Receipts!

There was Chinese food too. Fried things, in sauce. And prawn crackers for Gwen. And things on sticks for Hart. And other things on bigger sticks for Jack (you know why). And another receipt.

OH YES AND someone bought me paid time. Thank you! I have put it to good use per Torchwood standards and uploaded photos of my dog. I intend to make a poll as soon as I find something I require the general population's opinion on. CONSIDER THIS YOUR RECEIPT.

Gwen says I have to do a meme. Go on then, ask me anything. We've established I know everything. But no top-secret nonsense or I won't tell you. An Aura of Mystery! That's Torchwood. And sex. Mystery and sex. And sandwiches. And beagles.

No, we'll stick with mystery and sex. And Pimm's.
