I am obscenely cheerful this morning. It's not healthy, really. :D But I got a good night's sleep and actually packed a breakfast as well as a lunch, and I forgot how much energy I end up with when I actually eat breakfast. Yoghurt and homemade granola OM NOM NOM NOM.

I didn't post a poem yesterday because it was kind of an intense day, so I am posting two today. I wanted to post them in partnership anyway -- I've posted both before, but they bear repeating. Two takes on the relationship of teachers to students and, as any teacher will tell you, both are equally valid.

(This could be why I do not teach....)

Dear everyone,

I know that it's easy to stand at my desk and still look like you're working, but I have actual work to do and when you try to strike up a conversation with me despite us having nothing in common (seriously, you're going to talk to me about water taxis?) it stops me doing my actual work.

Love and asskicking,

Sam

Okay that's kind of a lie. I do have real work to do too, but today I spent a lot of time on yet more reading and poking and messing around with Extribulum (gee, am I talking about it too much?). I'm thinking all the time. It's weird and exhausting, like being back in undergrad.

I was going to say, hi Graphic Designers, want a resource? but then I realised graphic designers probably know this stuff already. But anyway, this is cool: I've compiled a list of royalties-free graphics sites, with copyright info in the noteboxes. As the tag suggests, my focus with them is cover art, but they can be used for a variety of purposes.

Also, I found typesetting wank.

Typesetting wank is hilariously boring.

Wank is the same the world over, really: A says they use MS Word for typesetting, B says InDesign and LaTEX are better, A says not noticeably if you do it right, B says it's subconscious and people "just enjoy books more" when they're typeset in InDesign, A points out that InDesign costs more than his first car did...it's all very "You're an elitist snob!" "You're a moronic plebe!"

NOOBS IN UR INDUSTRIE, USIN MS WURD.
