There is so much I could be doing, and yet, I am not.

Ahhhhhh. That feels good.

Nameless edits are almost done; I have one or two emails still to consult and then some minor overall-look editing (widows and orphans and en-dashes, oh my) that can't be done until Monday when I have Word access again. I do appreciate all the people who've pimped InDesign and Quark and LaTeX -- I think it's too late for Nameless, but I intend to have a look at them once I'm dug out a bit. I'm slowly moving forward on Extribulum. And I am managing to feed myself without ordering delivery three times a week. All good things.

[livejournal.com profile] dani_the_girl also kindly sent me an invite to dreamwidth.org, which like insanejournal, journalfen, and the now-defunct greatestjournal is based on LJ's open-source code. It's looking to be a more sensible version of LJ, I think -- certainly one of the appeals is that the administration, the people behind the code, are aiming to be less user-hostile and more transparent about their decisions regarding code and policy changes.

Hopefully this will crosspost to Dreamwidth. Fingers crossed!

A bit about Dreamwidth )
So as some of you may recall, I have two front doors (two!). One of them, the one marked with my flat number, opens into my kitchen, and that's the one I use. The other, which is in our little entry vestibule, opens into my bedroom (also accessible from the living room). It's locked but it's not marked in the vestibule at all. It's just a random door, hangin' out. I keep my electric towel rack and super awesome Ikea lamp in front of it, on the inside.

And the flat across the vestibule from me is empty, so people are often around on the weekend to look at it and see if they want to rent it. And sometimes the keys the agents have for showing the flat don't work in the knob.

I think you can guess what happens next.

FOUR TIMES today someone has tried to shove a key in my bedroom door and open it, and I worry that one of them may someday be successful, because Saturday is No Trousers Day. So I have to pop out of my kitchen door and terrorise them, just to make sure word gets about.

"Hi! That's my bedroom door," I say, like some kind of maniac escaped from Alice in Wonderland.

I live in an Escher print.

I'm considering making a sign for my front door that reads "SAM'S APARTMENT" and one for my bedroom door that reads "HERE BE DRAGONS".

Might work!
So I just watched Planet of the Dead.

Which means it's time for Sam's Three Things About Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead )

3b. I can't think of a 3B that isn't spoilery, actually. Okay, here goes: I know this special had some flaws, and they were RTD's usual flaws, and they were pretty blatant, and they make me sad. I do care about those, those aren't the things I Do Not Care About from #1, and I think there may be a post about them at a later date.

But I love the Doctor and I missed him, and he was at his Doctory best, so for now I am just going to enjoy the afterglow.

Mmmm, canon.
Jack, I've finished processing the new intel I weasled out of UNIT on the Doctor's recent visit to London. (I told you I had a reason to get dressed.) (This would have taken less time if you didn't keep -- well, you know.)

DOCTOR, DON'T LOOK UNDER THE CUT. IT'S SPOILERS.

Later-Doctor, if you're reading this, you know what I'm talking about. You can look.

SPOILERS! )

In all, not a bad day's work for UNIT, but I feel we could have done the job with, if not more firepower, then at least more flair.
