Apr. 30th, 2009 03:33 pmThe Nameless proof has arrived. Um. *stares at it*
It looks good -- the text is well laid-out and while the book in total is a bit on the thin side I am willing to sacrifice Having A Big Whacking Book in favour of being able to sell it cheaper. The cover still looks sort of "LOOK I SELF PUBLISHED A BOOK" but there's only so much you can do when your solo option is SHINY SHINY.
Also, in the spirit of fair warning, the back of my cover (and only the back, weirdly) is printed crooked. It's not crooked in the image so I'm hoping it's just a printer's error.
I have to fix one or two font size issues with the cover, which I can't do till this evening, and then write a bit of PR, so officially Nameless will go on sale tomorrow morning CST, or in about eighteen hours. Watch this space!
Disclosure: The book will initially sell for $10.50 USD. My profit from that is $1.35 (approximately five superballs!). The PDF will initially be free, rising to $3 in June.
I've been told not to underprice myself, and I get that, but I'm going to start the book at $10.50 because guys, we're all poor. This book was a labour of love and an education, and I don't need to make that much money off it. The book will sell at $10.50 for the first week, then rise to $12, and in June will rise to $14. If you can't afford one right now and can't afford $14 in June, seriously, talk to me. We'll work something out.
Signed copies are...complicated, so I've decided to sell a limited number of them at $30 each for charity (this is pricey, but will include or subsidise postage from Chicago to you, depending on your location). There will be more information about this tomorrow.
I'm excited! It is not the best book in the world but it is as good as I can make it.
I also got a proof copy of a poetry chapbook I'd been fucking around with on the side, and it's pretty hideous, so that one may be a while. :D
