Jun. 7th, 2009 09:33 amI aten't dead! :D
I slept all the hell over yesterday and did some cleaning, but mostly just rested. I did have an awesome dream where I had a job at Kinko's (an American -- possibly international? -- copy shop), but it was the secret Kinko's To The Stars. I don't remember who all I met but I know Simon Baker and Eve Myles had a very important presentation to make and needed posters FAST! Also I helped make copies for Roy Mustang, who is only a star in that he is the most awesome animated character I have met since Kyouya Ohtori.
Oh yeah, I watched Fullmetal Alchemist. IT WAS NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. I thought it was a lighthearted comedic romp starring a young magician and his artificially intelligent (AI, which is how I misread Al) robot he made from the magic. I thought it was like a more well-drawn Dragonball Z.
HELLO, DARK AND COMPLICATED AND WELL-BUILT WORLD. And occasional moments of unbelievable gore!
But even if it had sucked, which it did not, it would all have been worth it for Riza Hawkeye in a newsboy's costume. OH RIZA. It's one of the few times I have vacillated about shipping a character with someone purely because Riza was clearly too awesome for anyone else in the show. I wanted her to end up with Roy, but I'm not sure that even Roy Mustang was cool enough for her. Also, Roy clearly had a thing going for Ed, though I couldn't really acknowledge that because of Ed Is Underage And Very Damaged.
(Roy Mustang's fedora of righteous insubordination was also pretty fantastic.)
I still have to watch the film, though. I would say I'm going to read the manga, but that would be a lie, because I have trouble with comic books to begin with (I tend to ignore the pictures unless I find them especially awesome and well-composed, and then I ignore the text) and adding in the whole right-to-left thing really fucks me up. I'm sure it is awesome, however!
And now I have a to-do list to take care of before PeaPod arrives.
Guess what PeaPod is bringing me, among other things?
