[livejournal.com profile] juniper200 has asked me to crosspost some info on US equal-rights activism this morning and I'm happy to do so; please consider reading and participating. (The tiny angry face of Ianto Jones compels you!)

HR3017, The Employment Non-Discrimination Act or ENDA, would ban the firing and discrimination in hiring of individuals based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and it needs support. Vandy Beth Glenn does too: she was fired from her job with the Georgia legislature because she is a transwoman. This is legal in 38 states.

LAMBDA Legal's article
Bilrico's admittedly slightly melodramatic article

Glenn is testifying today in front of Congress about her experience and why ENDA should go forward. You can help by contacting your Congressman and sending them a letter of support for ENDA.

Find the name of your Congressman on the Committee on Education and Labor here. From that page you can click on their name and go through to their website, where their contact info is usually not hard to find. If you're outside the US but still want to speak out on this issue, feel free to crosspost, link here, or contact my Congressman and tell him I sent you. :D

("Who is this Sam Starbuck guy? How does he command the nations of the world?")

The letter behind the cut is cribbed from the ENDA Facebook activism page. Feel free to use it or write your own. Thanks guys :)

And then my computer began continually crashing all morning. So I spent most of it doing filing while an IT guy sat at my desk and muttered to himself. IT Guy did not fix the problem but IS an awesome hipster so that was fun.

In the meantime I meditated upon a film poster I stumbled over this morning, and when the computer finally stopped crashing every two minutes and started crashing every fifteen, I looked it up.

This is the best scene of any film you will ever see involving a MEGA SHARK.

From: Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus, the movie:

OH YEAH.
GUESS WHAT I HAVE.

Well, aside from Delicious Cake, I have a SODA FOUNTAIN.

These things are magical. You fill a special 1L bottle with water, chill it, and then pop it into the machine, which is basically just a fancy CO2 bottle. It carbonates the water and then you can drink straight up sparkling water or add flavourings to it.

Mum sent it to me as a birthday present, along with some flavourings -- Generic Diet Coke flavour, Orange flavour, and a sampler pack of their other flavours (Root Beer, Lemon-Lime, etc). I was the envy of all my coworkers.

Pimms Seltzer, anyone?
I have made Pimms Orange Soda.

It's like drinking Neutral. I think I've invented Antimatter. Anti-alcohol? Antihol.

Slightly orange-tinged antihol.

I DO THESE THINGS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO.
