(no subject)
Oct. 7th, 2009 09:03 pmI ATEN'T DEAD.
I don't even know what happened at work today. It was all a blur. A blur with a lot of ringing phones attached. So tonight I am not very interesting! Even if I am going to do some Late Night Baking later. We shall see what transpires then.
Me being not very interesting tonight, I have some News Of Literacy to pass on to you instead.
Rachel has asked me to post the following for Chicago residents (alas, for Chicago residents only):
The Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions is looking for temporary copy-editors to start this Monday, October 12 and edit entries for our program book. We need people with great attention to detail, who can learn new programs quickly, and would be able to bring their own laptop to work from. We would need copy-editors to be present from 9-5 for the next week, and possibly for the week afterwards. We would pay $15/hour.
If interested, please e-mail Rachel at rachel@parliamentofreligions.org by 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 8th with "Copy-Editing" in the subject and make sure you mention it was "via Sam"!
Also,
minkrose linked me to
sirriamnis's account of a lawyer shouting down an eleven-year-old who wanted to speak out against the firing of librarians in Oak Brook.
"Don't cry crocodile tears about people who are making $100,000 a year wiping tables and putting the books back on the shelves," Xinos smirked, apparently referencing the fired head librarian, who has advanced degrees and made $98,676 a year. He said Oak Brook had to "stop indulging people in their hobbies" and "their little, personal, private wants."
Because being a librarian with several degrees is, you know. A hobby. And librarians never have problems or spend their time DEFENDING OUR RIGHT TO FREE EXPRESSION AND OUR ACCESS TO PUBLIC INFORMATION.
Classy, asshole.
