amand_r,
cruentum, and I wrote JB/SG RPS together. I feel sullied and triumphant.
ANYWAY.
My Guests and I decided to hit the town today, despite the fact that it was pissing down rain out and OH YEAH probably going to snow by Sunday, what the hell Chicago. The point is, we were bound and determined to go out!
About two years ago I stumbled over Gay Mart, which is a geek/toy/pride shop at the northern end of Boys Town, and it's ridiculous how 1. close I live to it and 2. I have never gone back. So we went there to check out their Doctor Who stuff in specific and their comic book and scifi stuff in general.
Gay Mart is awesome. And they sell a lot of Doctor Who stuff. A lot. And normally I don't buy merchandise. But you guys, I'm only human.

HARKNESS AND BATMAN: LOCKED IN MORTAL COMBAT! (The Batman As Green Lantern action figure is a new acquisition of one of my guests.)
Undeterred by the rain, we backtracked from Gay Mart to the El with our prizes and rode down to Belmont, where we invaded The Gallery Bookstore and Belmont Army before taking lunch at Johnny O'Hagan's Irish Pub. They do a great fish and chips and also don't mind when your guests sculpt a cock and balls out of their bangers and mash.
After a bit of a rest we buzzed a game shop and a comics shop before coming back home again, which made for a pretty active and incredibly fucking geeky day of shopping.
I wore my winter boots for the first time in probably six months, and kind of had to break them in again; as a result, my feet aaaache. But my belly is full and Jack Harkness gazes down on me in plastic benevolence from where he is currently slow-dancing with Batman, so all is well.
