Good morning, Cafe!

On Friday night I posted a call for jobseekers to post their locations, skills, and needs in the Cafe as a way to help some of our little community find jobs. I screened comments because I wanted as many people as possible to get to comment, without the latecomers being unseen because the moment had passed.

I've had responses from scientists, artists, teachers, the spouses and children of loved ones with no job, and people who want to be members of the Ninja Office Admin guild, among others. If you are looking for someone to employ, there is someone in that post for you!

I've unscreened the comments, so you are now free to check out The Cafe Talent Pool. It's pretty impressive.

Please go have a look at the post and see what advice, links, knowledge, etc you can offer. Especially since if nobody comments it makes me look like an asshole. :D And you never know, you might make a new friend.

Jobseekers, you're not exempt from that request -- you may not have a job but you have skills and knowledge and you should know each other, the better to help each other out. And if you missed the original post it's not too late to comment.

Have fun, guys, and be excellent to each other!

I am proud of many things tonight, including the beautiful and properly-made Nanaimo bars I concocted earlier this evening (it was an issue of butter-to-graham-cracker, solved it now). I am also proud of having hung a bunch of new posters and the cool art deco wall clock mum sent me.

Mostly I am proud of you guys though, for stepping up and putting yourself out there in the Cafe Job Post and also for going back to it and giving each other so much help. We have over 600 comments on the post, and hopefully people have a little bit of hope and a lot of career guidance they didn't have before. GOOD LUCK, JOB SEEKERS, and thank you to everyone who commented to send them links and advice.

I did drown in comments a little bit, but it was totally worth it.

And now, to bed! This week won't suck as much as the last one did, I feel it in my unbroken bones.
