Aug. 23rd, 2010 10:58 amGood morning all! Welcome to a slightly belated Radio Free Monday. It's small this week, which is just as well. What I have to share with you are two fannish charities that could use your support:
help_pakistan. Pakistan has experienced the worst flooding in 80 years, and as of last week one fifth of the country was underwater, with one ninth of the population displaced (upwards of twenty million people). The fundraising community need both your artistic contributions and your bids.
Random Acts was brought to my attention by SolitarySloth this week. It's a charitable organisation, run mainly by fannish volunteers and loosely under the guiding hand of Misha Collins, which both raises money for causes and encourages people to do random good works in their lives. Check it out!
I have to say, you guys, I am really pleased with this whole Radio Free Monday setup. I get more info on good causes and fannish events, because people feel more comfortable asking for signal boosts, and at the same time I feel way less like I'm constantly telling you guys to give other people your moneys. Much as with the internet at large, this journal is shaped not only by me but by its users (that's you!) and I'm always pleased when we can come to a compromise that makes both of us happy.
