Good morning all! Welcome to a slightly belated Radio Free Monday. It's small this week, which is just as well. What I have to share with you are two fannish charities that could use your support:

[livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan. Pakistan has experienced the worst flooding in 80 years, and as of last week one fifth of the country was underwater, with one ninth of the population displaced (upwards of twenty million people). The fundraising community need both your artistic contributions and your bids.

Random Acts was brought to my attention by SolitarySloth this week. It's a charitable organisation, run mainly by fannish volunteers and loosely under the guiding hand of Misha Collins, which both raises money for causes and encourages people to do random good works in their lives. Check it out!

I have to say, you guys, I am really pleased with this whole Radio Free Monday setup. I get more info on good causes and fannish events, because people feel more comfortable asking for signal boosts, and at the same time I feel way less like I'm constantly telling you guys to give other people your moneys. Much as with the internet at large, this journal is shaped not only by me but by its users (that's you!) and I'm always pleased when we can come to a compromise that makes both of us happy.
I've been thinking of doing the Favourite Character meme that's been going around, but then I thought, you know what? Nobody who reads this journal really has any doubts about who my favourite characters are. It's not exactly something I'm shy with.

Though I did have this fun conversation the other day:

Sam: I always seem to pick a character on a show who I'd like to be, or at any rate be like. And usually they're my favourite, but it's weird. I want to be Neal Caffrey, but I don't like him as much as I do Peter Burke.
Dove: Think this through. Who is Neal Caffrey's favorite person?
Sam: EPIC FACEPALM.

I also spent some time today briefly considering crashing Chicago TARDIS in November, but then I found out it's in Lombard. Which I'm sure is in reality a very nice town, but I've been there and in the Googlemaps in my head it's right there with Giddings, Texas, as one of the creepiest places I have ever passed through. Srsly, you guys, take some garlic or wolfsbane or something when you go.

Notes: Though they don't necessarily share a theme, per se, this was inspired by Could Be Dangerous, a really excellent Sherlock vid by Lee_Fragilidad.

( Does it surprise you? )

Hey remember when I said I probably wasn't going to post any fanfic for a while?

That was kind of a sad lie.

So halfway through talking about why I'm getting this food allergy test done, tonight, the doctor turns to me and says, "What you're describing sounds an awful lot like an ulcer."

AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

And now I have ulcer medication. I mean, they did the allergy test anyway because why not, but it's likely not a food allergy.

God, I don't even know why this is so fucking funny. I'm thirty-one years old next month and I have an ulcer. Clearly it's all the stress in my life.
