Dec. 30th, 2010

Today was a quiet day, after yesterday's adventure in the Houston Monsoon. (Did I mention that? It rained so hard we couldn't see the car in front of us unless it was braking, at a couple of points.)

We went to Central Market, which is a local organically-bent grocery store, though they carry other stuff too because they're owned by the local regular grocery store, HEB. I could spend all day in their butcher's shop, but Mum sent Emmy and me on a mission to get cheese ball ingredients. We may have stopped at the gelato counter briefly as well before reuniting with Mum...

Since then we've mostly been home, doing laundry and watching TV. I'm trying to get them into White Collar, though since it's not on-demand and all my files are on an external hard drive, getting episodes up is not easy. Emmy was convinced by a quick google for "Matt Bomer", but Mum is a harder nut to crack. Like me, her tastes can be unpredictable.

In the meantime, we're folding socks and watching Sherlock Holmes (The Good One). Pretty good afternoon.
Lucky: Hon, are you going to the Bowling Ball Ceremony on New Year's Eve?
Mum: The what?
Lucky: You got an invitation to a Bowling Ball Ceremony at the church.
Mum: You mean the Burning Bowl Ceremony?
Emmy and me: *loling hard*
Me: I'm sure if you wanted you could have your bowling ball blessed. They could do a ceremony if they had a team.
Mum: Stick three fingers in and salute!
Me: *chokes on my mashed potatoes*

If I had not been aspirating mashed potatoes I could have provided several replies, including "Well, bless my balls!"
