Mar. 20th, 2011 12:11 pmI am really just not very good at delayed gratification.
I mean, I understand that some things take work to accomplish and as my MA is proof I can put in the work when it's required. It's more...I'm not good at leisurely gratification. If there are things to do I wish to do them now.
I have, in my bookmarks slush file, about fifty bookmarks of various origami patterns, kits, and diagram archives, to suppliment when the origami-a-day calendar's diagram is too easy. And if I had my head I would do them all in the course of about a week. There's no goal to only doing one fold a day, there's no point to it, or wasn't when I started -- I was just all, oh, origami a day calendar! I'll do one a day. But now I think I'm teaching myself a new kind of patience.
FRANKLY IT'S KIND OF ANNOYING.
But I'll stick with it, for the most part, even if I did cheat a bit this weekend. Weekends are supposed to be for my origami sushi kit, so I folded what I think is eel nigiri (I've never had eel nigiri with mayo, but whatever) and an avocado maki.

I was so dissatisfied with the essential design of the avocado maki, however, that I decided it didn't count. So I also folded something I've been wanting to do for days: a wreath of cranes.
The instructions are inSpanish Portuguese, but the photos are pretty informative. One poor crane somehow ended up with an inside-out head, so I made him "top" of the wreath and hung it around the peep hole on my door.
