Apr. 3rd, 2011 01:11 pmIt's time for Sam's Sushi Sunday! That has a nice ring to it.

I'm pretty sure the nigiri on the left is Tamago/sweet egg, but the maki on the right, I don't even know. It looks like corn. Can that be right? I've never encountered corn maki rolls, but my experience of sushi is limited to the metropolitan Chicago area, and we are not a focal point of Japanese food culture.
Nice how I managed to get visible seams on both of the pieces in that shot. Well done, young Sam.
At any rate, my "bento" is nearly complete:

I'm thinking of lacquering the set when it's complete, using polyresin (exciting in its own right) thinned down a bit with acetone. But not until the weather's warmer because I'm pretty sure with that stuff it's crack a window or die.
I also did another vid -- White Collar, though I said I'd do Doctor Who, but the heart wants what the heart wants. I'm trying to upload it except it's the longest one yet, and Windows Moviemaker has decided to insert random freeze-frames every time I finalise the file. Whatever, MovieMaker.
