Title: Exquisite, Chapter 20
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Neal is finding a place for himself, both at the Bureau and in Peter and Elizabeth's life. Unraveling the mystery of the music box might ruin everything -- but that's a risk he has to take.

( Sunday morning, Elizabeth came downstairs to find Peter and Neal in a heated debate about pastry. )

Very early on in 2008, when I had just taken this job -- I could probably find the post if I looked, though it might have been lost to the hack -- it got really, really stormy out. The windows near me are tinted, which makes even bright days seem less vivid, but when it gets stormy it looks black outside. It doesn't happen very often, four or five times a year, but it is the ultimate in creepy, especially since the windows look out on a fairly gothic building across the way.

THE END TIMES MAY HAVE BEEN JUST A FEW DAYS LATE. *stares out windows*

But first, the end time of Exquisite has come! At least for now. Chapter twenty wraps up my parallel of Season Two; the next time we see the fic will be during the mid-S3 hiatus. IT SHOULD BE VERY EXCITING.

Hope you guys have enjoyed the latest installment. :)
Today is, of course, May 25th, known as Towel Day to devotees of Doug Adams and The Glorious 25th to Pratchett's followers. Ascertain the location of your towel, lilac, or time-travelling future self, as appropriate.

It is also Jack and Ianto's two year wedding anniversary. The pictures may have vanished from that post, but the smell of burning oak and the lingering sense of anxiety remains!

Talking of lingering anxiety and the end of the world, apparently Chicago's about to become Birmingham (thanks [livejournal.com profile] taerowyn!). The good news is we're way out ahead of most places in preparing our infrastructure for climate change.

The bad news is this means I have to move somewhere colder, because while the heat may not have been the only factor in my move north of the 39th parallel, it was a significant one. I hate Chicago summers now.

I've got my eye on Rugby, North Dakota. It's the geographic center of North America. On the other hand, the nearest sushi is in Winnipeg, and Google alone knows where the nearest art museum is.

Possibly the thing to do is move to Rugby and open a sushi restaurant.
Okay kids, my bags are packed and waiting by the door, I have a new book for the journey, and Travelin' Captain Jack has assumed the position (stuffed in a pocket of my messenger bag, you pervs). Tomorrow I'm off to commune with friends and nature. Look after the place while I'm gone.

Memorial Day is traditionally a time of wank, I don't know why. The coming of summer, perhaps. At any rate, if the internet does fall apart while I'm in the woods, just sit tight until Wednesday and we'll sort it all out then.

I'll think of you all while I'm drinking cider and dodging wildlife.

ADVENTUR!
