It's time for a FRIDAY PHOTO POST. I have been places and done a bunch of shit!

Icons first, though. Teasers here, the rest behind the cut; White Collar with a smattering of Chicago and a bit of the Doctor. All are, as ever, free for use; credit is nice but not required, and if you want to mess around with a base, please feel free.

Tim DeKay, Matt Bomer, and Stanely Kubrick, lookin' sharp. )

AAAAND PHOTOS.

I normally don't embed photos, because it would get ridiculous, but I feel that everyone should witness the terror and the glory that is Marilyn Monroe. It's just her face, guys; I know, I was disappointed too.

Kicking off the rest of the photo post, a reminder that nothing is permanent...

The last time I went to the Art Institute I stopped to soak my feet in the artificial creek in Lurie Gardens, designed for just such a purpose. I'd been soaking for about ten minutes when I realised I was sitting quite close to the remains of a bird. (Don't be fooled -- it looks like a skull but it's just a strategically placed rock. That is, however, a wing and a ribcage.)

I also saw the most awesome library ladder ever.

Last weekend I went to the Garfield Park Conservatory (obligatory SKY FETISH photo) to check out some of the hail damage.

These greenhouses were functional and open to the public a month ago.

It wasn't all bad, though. The Conservatory still boasts lovely flowers. Including these hanging lobster claws, which inexplicably made me lol.

There are also many fine if sometimes inscrutable signs. And a very nice pond.

THE PEDWAY. Note lack of dragons.

They do have a Subway though, and a sports bar named Infield's. And now I know if I ever need to escape Macy's quickly, the pedway opens into their basement.

In closing, rhubarb-cherry cobbler.
There is a hair and makeup trailer currently parked in front of my home.

Apparently when they filmed Chicago Code on my street, they spread the word that it was a good street to film on. I have to say it's pretty atmospheric; one reason I wanted to stay in the area was that I really like my street. Now FX is filming some new pilot at my intersection, which is kind of fun, but I kept wondering if someone was going to yell at me for trying to get to my flat.

The show is called "Powers", which seems to be based on a comic book.

The series follows Detective Christian Walker, who was once a hero who has since lost his extraordinary abilities. As he and his partner, Deena Pilgrim, investigate crimes, they uncover the seedy underbelly of the caped set, such as a Superman like character being a sex fiend.

Christian and Pilgrim? For reals? Is this comic any good? It reads like a religious press got its hands on a plot summary for Watchmen and decided to reinvent it, but it's filming on my god damned street so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
