And then I broke the internet!

This morning I laid waste to Semagic somehow, so that it won't log in as me on LJ but will log in as me on DW and then swap over to me on LJ. I also can't view my history, which is where I keep all my stuff (how like life).

Then I broke the helpdesk program we use.

Then I broke my new cubicle!

Then I broke, as mentioned above, the entire internet. I was the first to report our internet had gone down, and by God if our IT guys didn't blame me for it.

Clearly my father was actually some sort of chaos demon, and the last few years of injuries have just been me ramping up to assume his mantle upon turning thirty-two. I'm not gonna lie: being a spirit of destruction is probably going to be kind of cool and will certainly make for interesting blog entries, but you probably don't want to be in a car with me ever.

Thank you for the birthday wishes, though, and the sunflowers I got as Vgifts. When the apocalypse begins, you shall be spared.
Lately I've mentioned stuff I did, or rather was not able to do, in Chicago, and people have seemed interested. I was going to save this up and make it some kind of weekly event, maybe on a Sunday or something, but I just looked through the Humanities Day paperwork and sessions are already filling up.

SO. Here are things to do in Chicago. Some of them I'm doing -- some I've just heard about. If you're in Chicago or planning a visit, check 'em out!

The Midnight Circus is back! Now through the end of October, which means I won't be going because I'm broke until the 31st, but all proceeds benefit Chicago parks, and I hear it's a hell of a show. Please note: does not actually take place at midnight.

Idealist Grad Fair, October 10th from 5-8pm on the UIL campus -- a free fair for anyone thinking of getting a graduate degree in a "social impact" field (read: not for profit). There will probably be swag! You do have to register, so I would soon.

Dr. Seuss & The Art Of Invention is coming starting October 13th to the Museum of Science & Industry, and lasts through January 7th. If you go after November 17th, you'll also get to see the Holidays of Light exhibit at no extra charge.

Humanities Day 2011 all day October 22nd on the UChicago campus -- totally free, with three educational sessions (including museum tours) and a keynote address. Register soon to get good sessions!

Raiders of the Lost Ark is coming to the big screen at the Music Box -- no precise showtimes yet, but it starts November 18th. Music Box tickets usually run around $10.

I don't have links, but the Division Street Farmer's Market (Clark & Division red line stop, Saturdays) and the Logan Square Farmer's Market (south of the Logan Square blue line stop, Sundays) are both still active through the end of October. Free to attend, of course, though you pay for your food. The Logan Square market has fried pie!
DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT

I BROKE THE INTERNET AND THEN LJ STOPPED SENDING COMMENT NOTIFICATIONS

I must use this power for good. Chaotic good.

If there's a rain of bananas tomorrow in Chicago, you know who to thank. I was going to try for banana daiquiries, but those blenders would hurt on the way down.
