Feb. 7th, 2012 10:21 amYou know, I realise that "Before the internet" I was twelve (pedants take note, this refers to "Before I got the internet because it was finally easy for civilians to access" and not "before Al Gore invented the internet"), but it occurred to me as I was doing my morning reading that before the internet, I would never in a million years have spent any time at all reading an article about whether or not lapel pins are tacky. I would never have dreamed of making an actual personal decision about my feelings on lapel pins.
For reference, I agree with the Brooks Brothers blog that lapel pins are one of the few acceptable adornments to a suit, but must be chosen carefully. I don't own any myself, or at least none that I'd wear on a suit, but I'm prepared to acquire some should I find any appropriate candidates.
But, you know, I think it's important to form opinions on things, it allows you to practice critical thinking and helps provide context when making snap decisions. So now I have an opinion on lapel pins.
