Feb. 21st, 2012 10:45 amHello, internet!
I am back at work this morning, which is in some ways a relief because I don't like feeling there are Things Left Undone, and there were definitely Things Left Undone while I was away. These have now been Done.
Actually it's pretty exciting, we're almost fully staffed up again and we just got the news that the director of my three departments has been hired -- I've been reporting to the director of research, but I "belong" to a whole group of interrelated departments who have been directorless for about four months. So I'll transition over to reporting to her, and she seems cool. We met briefly when she was working for a different company, and my ADVENTURs came in handy because she lived near Elmhurst at the time and I happened to mention having been there touristing.
Networking is rarely hilarious, but then one doesn't normally network over one's experiences at a museum of lapidary.
At any rate, while we do have a hellish schedule these next two weeks, it's being borne mainly by the new kids, and it won't impact me beyond making sure nobody throws a punch. This is not likely, but it is possible, because I live in a very...dynamic environment.
And now I must go yell at Lexis Nexis. Hurrah!
