Good morning all, and welcome to the quickest, dirtiest Radio Free Monday ever.

Ways To Give:

[personal profile] riverlight is headed to India in a few weeks, and is taking her analog film camera, as her digital one just broke and she can't afford a new one. As an amateur photographer she's asking around for anyone who has old 35mm film and would like to donate it, offering reimbursement for postage or to send donors a print of one of the images she takes while traveling.

[livejournal.com profile] athousanderrors links to a post by [livejournal.com profile] lightningspark about her cat Hero, and the rising vet bill due to Hero's kidney problems. There's lots of adorable photos of Hero, and an address for paypal donations at the bottom.

[livejournal.com profile] dreamwaffles linked to a post about a couple in Brooklyn, NY, who are facing eviction and whose pets are thus in danger of going to a kill shelter. They're looking for people in the tri-state area who can adopt a cat, or people who would like to donate to help provide veterinary care for the cats.

Wollstonecraft, a girlcentric pro-math, pro-science Steampunk story about Ada Lovelace and Mary Wollstonecraft as children, has hit $36k of its $4k goal on Kickstarter. So they're pretty funded. But I wanted to make everyone aware of it because it sounds VERY AWESOME.

Fans Helping Fans:

Marion's mum is in the hospital this week and possibly facing a surgery she desperately doesn't want to have. She's asking for people to keep her in their thoughts.

[livejournal.com profile] keestone is looking for housing in Central Los Angeles for about five weeks this summer, in the area of Koreatown or Silver Lake; she's also looking for advice cheap long-term car rental in the area.

News To Know:

[livejournal.com profile] blushingflower linked me to Caine's Arcade, a mini-documentary that has gone viral this week, about a nine-year-old named Caine who built his own cardboard arcade. Caine is a flipping genius little kid, and the video about how his arcade got flashmobbed one weekend is awesome. The organisers have also set up a college fund for Caine, and you can find more information about that here.

Off last week's post, [livejournal.com profile] lizzie_omalley wants to spread the word that Lucky Bamboo plants (the corkscrew kind) are a kind of lily, and thus are toxic to cats, which she found out when her own cat became ill from chewing on one. She links to more info here.

Just For Fun:

[livejournal.com profile] sanura linked to The Fucking Amazing Puzzle Pipe Organ Desk, which is, true to its title, fucking amazing.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). Remember, brevity is the soul of RFM.
Now that I am pulling my crap together after last week...

A quick announcement, and this'll go out on [livejournal.com profile] theoriginalsam and my Wordpress too -- I've set the starting date for posting the new rewritten Dead Isle as April 20th, this Friday. I'll be posting a chapter a day from April 20th through May 14th; I was going to post two a day, but I need time to absorb the notes you guys give me and two chapters a day is a lot of reading for you as well. Chapters will be posted at [livejournal.com profile] theoriginalsam but, as with fanfic, links will be posted to [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge and all mirrors.

If you are participating in the read-and-critique, and I encourage everyone who wants to take part to participate, please be aware that you may not get a response from me immediately -- generally it's a lot to take in and sometimes I need to rock-tumble things a little before I respond. But I do appreciate everyone's commentary! This is a grand experiment of mine and I'm always learning new things from it.

If you have friends who are interested in editing, steampunk, fantasy, alternate history, or digital publishing, invite 'em along. Dead Isle is family-friendly (there's very little swearing or violence and no sex) and while I may be biased I think it's a heck of an adventure.
