Good morning all, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ahh. Monday.

Ways To Give:

[personal profile] whatawaytoburn linked me to a post about her family, who desperately needs help to keep themselves afloat. They've raised about $700 of $2000 they need. The full post is here, along with a donation link.

[livejournal.com profile] kezzyc linked to a Kickstarter for Rebecca Kling, a transgender artist and educator based out of Chicago (awww yeah) who is raising funds for travel to some midwest fringe festivals this summer. She'll be performing her one-person show, "Storms Beneath Her Skin" and you can find more info about her performance work at her website.

News To Know:

[livejournal.com profile] bloodrebel333 linked to a blurb about Paypal withholding funds from sellers for either 21 days or until the buyer leaves positive feedback. The blurb is a little vague, so I'd be happy to take other posts about this if people have information or links to methods of protesting it.

Adventures in plagiarism! Ang sent me some links about a recent poetry book published by someone using the name Ven Findlay, "Shaded By", a good portion of which is plagiarised. There's a post about it at Technophile's journal with links to the stolen poems and other information; Technophile has also posted a text of the entire book here so people can see if their work was stolen. This is especially relevant to our community because at least three people in fandom were plagiarised, so it's likely someone familiar with fandom if not in it.

Just For Fun:

[personal profile] switchbladesis linked to Chicago News Haikus. Be in the know in seventeen syllables!

Jean linked me to "The Muppets In: Thor" which starts out funny and goofy and ends up touching and awesome.

@01_gav on Twitter linked me to the BEST THEORY EVER: Canton Everett Delaware III, father of Phil Coulson.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). Remember, brevity is the soul of RFM.
I AM GETTING THINGS DONE. I am up in ur office, managin' ur projeckts. Eatin' a granola bar.

Posting chapter twenty-four of The Dead Isle!

Making calming posters to pass out to my colleagues who are freaking the hell out about how they will get to work when the NATO summit is in town.

And now I must go do more things.
Aaaand then I got an email from Riptide Publishing that they accepted my historical fiction manuscript (final of many titles: The City War).

TIME TO PARTY LIKE IT'S B.C. 49.

And given that it's Rome, there will be sex. Oh yes. And feasting. I'm pretty sure the story is about equal parts sex, feasting, and politics, which is the best venn diagram ever.

If only my classics professors knew what they have wrought. I mean, I doubt they'd be shocked. Catullus is not for the faint-hearted. But my Roman Architecture teacher probably never intended my extensive knowledge of early Imperial country villas to be put to quite this use.

On the other hand, I wrote a paper for him about the decorative use of the penis in Rome and he gave me an A, so maybe.

Anyway, it's all very exciting. Or, in the latin, Huius cunctum accēnsus est. I think.
