A few days ago I got my Advanced Reader Copy pdf of The City War, which I've been blithering about on this journal as THE ROMAN PORN. It looks hot all over. A couple of people have asked me about my experience with Riptide (they do have several open submissions calls at the moment) and I have to say that so far it's been 100% positive. Professional people being professional!

Also it's never not funny when you're brainstorming with your editors over a suitably ancient word for "orgasm".

I happened to catch a good sale on Lulu so I bought some copies of The Dead Isle in anticipation of signed copy sales; those arrived yesterday and also look hot all over, though I'm still blown away by the sheer size of them. I do want to remind everyone that Dead Isle goes on sale this Saturday at 10am Central time and will be available for sale in hardcopy and ePub, and for free as a PDF.

I will be doing signed copies for charity as always, though I thought I should prewarn people that they will be $40 this time round due to the increased price of printing the book and increases in postage costs recently. Sorry about that :/ Hopefully whatever book I do next won't be, you know, a hundred and eighty thousand words.

On a cheerful ending note, the sandwich post I mentioned, about regional American sandwiches? I'm like magic. IT CAME BACK. Look, a Horseshoe sandwich! A Mother In Law! A Jibarito!
As soon as this week's White Collar aired I had people saying SAM YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS

Then I found out why. IT WAS EVEN BETTER THAN I IMAGINED.

3a. AN ENIGMA GAVE A PARADOX A VERY SPECIAL HUG. Oh Mozzie.
Oddly enough, the last two ARCs I received for review were both semi-fantasy lesbian love stories. I bet I read more lesbian fiction this past two weeks than anyone else I know in brickspace.

NOT COMPLAINING.

I've mentioned The Superheroes Union: Dynama by Ruth Diaz in before, and I finally got to read it. It's an engaging short novella about the lives of superheroes, and what you have to do to keep your kids safe when your ex is a supervillain.

Final Verdict: It's just plain a fun story, and if you like superheroes and reading about the way they interact with society, it's a great read.

Again, this is a small-press book; it retails as an ePub for $3.59 and well worth the price. You can read an excerpt or purchase it here at Carina Press.
